Maintenance Protocols
Once a property has been mitigated, it is monitored remotely by the FortressFire AMP Platform that includes the aggregation of remote sensing technologies for wind, temperature, humidity, vegetation moisture, and vegetation growth rate to determine appropriate timing for seasonal maintenance services to maintain or restore the property to its mitigated, protected state.
Each property’s base maintenance service is established after the initial onsite inspection and is approved by the property owner. Different scopes and parcel sizes in different geographic zones require different levels or types of maintenance service tasks.
FortressFire’s regional service manager prioritizes property services for properties on the AMP Platform by PIM vulnerability inputs and environmental monitoring parameters, assigning field service personnel to seasonal maintenance routes.
Service personnel review PIM vulnerability data and approved mitigation and maintenance plans prior to scheduling seasonal maintenance service tasks with the property owners or their property managers.
Baseline onsite maintenance tasks include inspection and photo documentation of the structure, the structure ignition zone, and vegetation zones as described in the inspection procedures. Any failures are mitigated immediately if possible or logged for follow-up services to be approved and scheduled by the property owner. Follow-up services include structure hardening or vegetation management work above and beyond activities included in the baseline maintenance service plan.
Baseline Maintenance Job Tasks Included in Monitoring + Protection Plan Subscriptions:
- Remove flammable vegetation debris in the structure ignition zone
- Clear roof and gutters of flammable debris
- Seal roof and eave gaps with non-combustible caulking
- Minor vegetation trimming to maintain structure ignition zone free of flammable materials
- Re-application of long-term ground retardant under decks and on secondary structures as defined in approved mitigation and maintenance plans
- Inspection and refill or replacement of on-site stored retardant (incremental charges may apply)
Maintenance Job Tasks Available for Additional Charges
- Repair or replace any structural failures per the mitigation policy and procedures
- Remove any new hazard or complex vegetation failures per the mitigation policy and procedures
Completion of maintenance tasks are documented in the AMP Platform and certification is provided to the property owner – and to the insurance carrier if mandated by the policy or program parameters.
